The Bountiful City Police Department has a Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer, (S.M.A.R.T.).

Drivers approaching a speed radar trailer will see the posted speed limit displayed, as well as their speed as detected by the radar gun within the trailer. The trailer will also record the total number of vehicles and their average speeds during the times it is monitoring traffic.

The Bountiful City Police Department will be placing the speed radar trailers in various locations throughout the City of Bountiful, depending on such variables as previous history of motor vehicle accidents, requests from the public and frequent speeding citations.

The use of a speed radar trailer aids in educating the public, especially the driver who may be unaware exactly how fast they are going. While traffic enforcement through visible patrols and traffic citations remains an important component of our overall traffic safety strategy, the use of our speed radar trailer strengthens our efforts to reduce speeding through education. Please also see our speed limit map for current speed limits.

Residents who would like the speed radar trailer placed in their neighborhoods are invited to make a request below, and submit it electronically. Due to the limited amount of trailers and frequent requests, requests are taken on a first come basis.

For the summer of 2021 we have combined the radar request form with a traffic enforcement request form.  To request the radar trailer, visit the Traffic Enforcement Request page.
